The effect of depth of cut on tool life is not as large as that of linear speed. Each geometry has a relatively large depth of cut range. However, the depth of cut cannot exceed the cutting range of the geometry. If the depth of cut is too large, the tool cannot withstand the cutting force, resulting in tool chipping; if the depth of cut is too small, the tool will only scrape and squeeze on the surface of the workpiece, resulting in serious wear on the flank, thereby reducing tool life.
There are many reasons for vibration, including machine rigidity, tooling rigidity, workpiece rigidity, cutting parameters, tool geometry, tool nose radius, blade clearance angle, tool bar overhang, etc., but the main reason is that the system is not rigid enough to resist The cutting force during machining causes the constant vibration of the tool on the surface of the workpiece during machining. To eliminate or reduce vibration must be considered comprehensively. The tool life is greatly reduced.
When processing workpieces, we mainly consider the workpiece material, heat treatment requirements, and whether intermittent processing is required.
